Frequently Asked Questions

Psychotherapy is most effective when sessions occur regularly. Regular sessions allow for deeper work on thornier issues, and prevent therapy sessions from becoming “catch-ups” that lack a sense of continuity or depth. I see most clients 1-3 times per week. My sessions are 50 minutes. Therapy often involves working through what one finds most painful or intolerable, and this means that our sessions are likely to bring up difficult feelings. Part of my work is to create an environment in which you feel able to go towards difficult emotions at a pace that works for you.

I provide therapy in three different states, each with different costs of living. Please email me for current rates. I also have a limited number of sliding scale spots for psychotherapy. My hourly fee for writing consultation depends on the project.

I am not in network with any insurance companies, but I provide superbills for out of network reimbursement. Each insurance plan is different, but I have seen reimbursement amounts ranging from 90-250 a session.
If you are unclear about your benefits, I recommend calling your insurance and asking the following questions:
Does my plan include out of network behavioral health benefits?
Is there a deductible? If so, what is it?
What is the allowable rate for psychotherapy?
What percentage of the allowable rate will be reimbursed?
Is there a limit on the number of sessions that I can attend?
What is the process of submitting out of network superbills?

Yes. If you are unable to attend a session, I ask for 48 hours notice. Otherwise you will be charged the full rate of the session.
